Comic Emporium Weekends
Monday, February 23rd, 2009Weekends are awsome at Comic Emporium. Here’s a little sample of what you’re missing:
Magic the Gathering
Whether you’re a total noob or a master of beatdown, our Magic tournys are a great way to learn, re-learn, or improve your pownage.
Friday Night Magic starts at 7pm every Friday. The format is usually Standard with a Booster Draft on the first Friday of each month. Special FNM Foil Cards are awarded as random door prizes and to the top 2 finishers. We also throw in some booster packs for the winners.
Saturdays we mix it up with a wide variety of formats from Legacy to 2-Headed Giant. Check our calendar for a schedule of upcoming formats. Prizes include special DCI Foil Promo Cards, Booster Packs and everybody’s favorite: Greg’s Random Box of Crap.
Pssssst… Did you know Comic Emporium is open on Sundays now? Sunday afternoons the shop opens at 2pm for our Winner’s Choice Tourny. The winner of that weekend’s Friday Night Magic tourny decides the format so call ahead. The atmosphere of all our tournys is relaxed and everyone is welcome.
Warhammer
Saturday mornings at 10am the warlords assemble to lead their forces once more into the breach and onward to the ultimate victory! Ok… so the warlords are actually a great bunch of geeks like the rest of us and their forces consist mostly of 1-inch plastic soldiers. The game is Warhammer 40,000.
Jason Heath does a great job of organizing the mayhem and making sure everybody has fun…even if they get their face smashed in.
Not into Tyranids and Space Marines? No sweat. You’ll also find players for Warhammer Fantasy or The Lord of the Rings if that’s your thing.
The format for all GW events is casual with special tournaments usually held once a month.
Dungeons & Dragons
Come experience the grand-daddy of them all! Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition is amazing! Each character class is now equiped with special powers which add a new level of roleplay to the game. Its still D&D – fighters and magic users battling orcs and goblins – but the game mechanics aren’t as clunky…and the goblins are meatier.
Alex Ray is the DM for D&D Delve Nights Fridays at 9pm. This is an open campaign and everyone is invited but seating is limited.
Saturdays at 2pm, Gina Hall teaches D&D 101: An Introduction to 4th Edition. This campaign is especially designed for young players and their families or for anyone interested in learning the new system. Open to everyone but seating is again limited.
And Everything Else
Our tables are always open for anything you want to play. You might find a game of Munchkin, Zombies!!!, or Fluxx and the guys usually can be found playing Rock Band or Street Fighter between matches.
At Comic Emporium, the emphasis is on fun so come down some weekend and check it out - The only thing missing is You !!!
